Update from Phil

David Holmes - 3rd February 2009

I spoke to Phil Gilchrist today for an update.

First he told me that the goalkeeper situation at the club hasn?t been as coherent as he would have liked for the whole of this season and that, contrary to what we reported before, Simon Eastwood will be returning to Huddersfield after 26 February. Phil wished supporters to know that he has plans in place to cover the goalkeeping position. He further said that this whole issue would be more satisfactorily resolved in the summer.

As a part of his plans to sort out goalkeeping, Phil plans to arrange some friendly matches to give Ross Worner some games. In addition this will help the players returning from injury, Tom Hutchinson, Delano Sam-Yorke and Paolo Vernazza. Others who have a lesser involvement infirst team fixtures will also, clearly, be included.

Lastly, Phil told me that, because of the transport problems, the players hadn?t been in yesterday, but had reported today. They had been clearing snow from pathways, car park etc, digging out cars, and had finished with a massive snowball fight in which Phil confessed he had been ?absolutely battered? !!
