David Holmes - 28th February 2009

I spoke to Phil Gilchrist and MOTM Paul Lorraine after the game.

Phil said he was really pleased with the performance. ?We?ve had a poor run, the league leaders were coming to town, we?d been beaten by Stevenage midweek, you?d think things couldn?t get any harder, but today I think we looked a proper football team. We didn?t score but we got the ball in the right areas and kept a clean sheet. Danny Knowles made a great save but you need your keeper to do that. Overall pleased but it?s a starting point. They?ve got to keep doing it and keep believing in themselves because they have played some of the better teams in this division and haven?t been outclassed by either of our last two opponents.

I thought Micah Hyde was exceptional on his debut. He?ll get better and better hopefully. He showed that little bit of midfield nous that maybe we?ve been lacking and he may be the missing ingredient between now and the end of the season. The spirit in the camp has been fine but confidence levels have been a little bit low and today?s result can only help that before we entertain Kiddy and Barrow in two games that are massively important for us.?

Paul Lorraine told me ?I thought the boys were outstanding today. The gaffer prepared us well and everything went according to plan. It was the best we?ve played in a while. We played it along the ground, passed and moved well and were solid at the back. They?re the league leadersfor a reason and we?re very happy with the game today. The plan was to get in their faces, to work as hard as them or harder. We are looking forward to Tuesday and have got to build on this. We?re a confident bunch of lads and although there?s obviously been some problems this year with our results I feel we can turn the corner and push on on Tuesday and I?m looking forward to it.?

Thanks to Phil and Paul.
