Surrey Sports Park has today agreed a deal with Woking FC which will see the new sports facility become the Blue Square South club’s main training ground for the 2009/10 season.

The multi-million pound Surrey Sports Park, which is owned by the University of Surrey, is due to open early in 2010 and will be one of the premier training facilities ahead of the London 2012 Olympics.

The agreement with Woking FC will give the local football club access to all of the new Sports Park, including the pitches and rehabilitation facilities.

Woking FC will also benefit from the partnership with the Surrey Sports Park by providing the club with a great opportunity to develop its sporting credentials whilst highlighting the local grown talent that Surrey currently produces.

Knowing the Chairman, Manager and team, they are a club with huge ambitions. The facilities at the Surrey Sports Park will be a major boost to their preparations and I hope will pave their way to success.

Woking FC Chairman Shahid Azeem said: “We are an ambitious club with high hopes for the forthcoming season and top class training facilities will play a vital part in helping us achieve our goals. The Surrey Sports Park has everything which the modern athlete requires so we are looking forward to using the facilities as soon as the development work is complete.

Woking FC players will be able to benefit from the Surrey Sports Park’s state-of-the-art facilities including a 50 metre swimming pool, three multi-purpose sports halls, eight outdoor floodlit tennis courts, two floodlit artificial grass pitches and a 100 station health and fitness suite.

The Surrey Sports Park has already been registered as a suitable training venue for the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2012 but as well as catering for elite athletes it will also provide the best and most up to date sport and facilities for anyone interested in sport and fitness everyone.
