Jimmy Dack’s post-match comments

8:35pm, Sat 8th Aug 2009
Club Press Officer and Photographer David Holmes managed to catch up with Jimmy immediately after the game and asked him if he’d enjoyed the match. He responded by saying: “No, I never enjoy the first game of the season. It was against my old club and they’re a good side. We didn’t take our chances today as we should have done, but have come away with a result.

Next, David pointed out that it was a game with lots of penalty decisions. Jimmy agreed and said: “ That theirs was a clear-cut penalty and so was ours. You don’t like to see games won on penalties but decided in open play, but we’ll take it all the same.

Finally, David asked Jimmy if we’d played as well as he wanted us to. “No he emphatically replied, “ the early goal made us a bit tetchy and stopped us expressing ourselves. However, we are away from home and looked nice and solid at the back. They didn’t really create a clear-cut chance and we are very happy today to have come away with a result.
