Statement from Chairman Shahid Azeem

21st September 2009

Statement from Chairman Shahid Azeem On behalf of Woking Football Club I would like to sincerely apologise for the events of Saturday at the game against Newport. To say we were saddened and disappointed by the behaviour of a small minority is a gross understatement. This behaviour has nothing to do with Sport or Football and is a long way short of what we have come to expect at Woking, with our family atmosphere and friendly, tolerant and highly inclusive approach.

We will be urgently reviewing all our internal arrangements to see how we can improve and be sure that genuine supporters do not again have their afternoon ruined by a minority of so-called fans.

I hope you will accept my sincere apologies and join with me to do anything you can to help us to eliminate this kind of behaviour at Kingfield. It was all the more disappointing as what was on display on the field was a genuine contest between two of the leading sides in the League so far this season.
