Conference Youth Alliance Cup Final

MMU/Newcastle 2 - 1 Woking
Football Conference Youth Alliance League Cup Final
Wednesday 5th May - 2pm

Our thoughts are with Michael Boateng, who missed the final due to a family bereavement.

MMU took an early lead in the 12th minute in this cup final, Tom Parkes scoring a great free kick on the edge of the area after Gavin Miller had committed the foul.

A second goal came 21 minutes later, from the penalty spot this time, again after Gavin Miller had committed a foul in the box. Ben Harrison fired into the bottom right corner.

Woking had the ball in the back of the net in the 58th minute, Ola Sogbanmu powering through the MMU back line and side-footing the ball with his left foot into the corner of the goal, only for the referee to disallow it due to his assistant flagging for a questionable foul.

Sogbanmu had a second chance 13 minutes later, the ball dropping to him in the area after a corner. This time there was no problem as he slotted the ball past the MMU keeper to give Woking the chance of a come-back.

The Cards piled on the pressure, hoping for an equaliser, but it was not to be and MMU/Newcastle went home with the cup.
