Staines Town 2 Woking 1
Ryman Youth League
Monday 25th October 2010
Woking keeper Jordan Kennedy was called into action early on tonight, making a great save inside the box. Straight up the other end Adam Bicknell went close, Jack Mazzone crossing to him from the left and Bicknell chested the ball down but it got away from him before he could shoot.
The best chance of the half for Woking came in the 17th minute, a George Frith corner was taken long to the far side where Max Blackmore volleyed towards goal and the keeper palmed the ball behind for another corner.
Staines took the lead in the 32nd minute, the ball falling to the feet of their #10 just outside the box, and his low shot rebounded off the post and in.
Half Time: Staines Town 1 Woking 0
Within the first minute of the 2nd half the ball was in the back of the Woking net again, Staines #9 chipping Kennedy from the edge of the area.
5 minutes later and the young Cards had one back, Blackmore firing into the back of the net from nearly 40 yards out.
Woking nearly drew level just before the hour mark, Frith crossing to Mazzone who turned and volleyed just over the bar.
With minutes to go Staines nearly restored their two goal lead, #9 through on goal took the ball into the area, but Kennedy made a great one-on-one save.
Woking pushed for an equaliser all 2nd half, but it just wasn't to be, and they now look forward to their trip to Colchester on Saturday.
