Home win needed!

With each game, the need to claim three points, in order to kick-start a play-off challenge, becomes more pressing. The Cards are unbeaten in eight games, leaving aside the penalty shoot-out against Brighton, but one win and three draws in the last four league matches highlights the fact that Graham Baker’s side need fewer draws and more wins to make up lost ground. Dartford, making their first-ever visit to Kingfield, have a poor away record, so, on paper at least, Saturday’s game provides a great opportunity for the Cards to start putting that right. Come and support the team!

WOKING

Although the Cards lie in 15th place, they are only eight points away from the play-off zone, so if they could string a few more wins together they would soon put themselves in a position to mount a challenge. Thurrock, one off the bottome of the table, are the next visitors, so back-to-back home wins are very much what is needed. The Cards showed against Brighton and Dover that they can play some excellent football but they need to do it more consistently. Let’s hope a few days’ rest has revived the side sufficiently to produce another top-class performance.

The main injury worry presumably centres on Ricky Anane, who was substituted on Tuesday. If he’s unfit to play, Mark Ricketts can be expected to move to right back, with Jerome Maledon and/or Francis Quarm taking on the midfield defensive duties.

DARTFORD

The Darts won the Ryman Premier League last season but have made a tentative start to life in the BSBS, currently lying in 18th place, with 14 points from 14 games. On their travels they’ve won one, drawn two and lost five, with six goals scored and thirteen conceded. They did well, however, to beat Dover 2-0 in their last away league fixture. In the FA Cup they reached the 1st Round, holding Port Vale to a 1-1 draw at home before losing the replay 4-0. The Darts beat Thurrock 2-0 away in the FA Trophy last Saturday.

The Darts have one ex-Card in their ranks in the shape of Ollie Berquez. Another familiar figure is Charlie Sheringham, signed from Welling United in the summer after he had joined the Wings from Bishop’s Stortford. A player the Cards will have to watch is ex-Braintree striker George Purcell, who has just been signed on loan from York City, whom he joined in the summer. Purcell has been sidelined with an ankle injury and has yet to make a start for York.
