Entertaining draw for the u18s

Nick Shaw - 4th October 2011

Entertaining draw for the u18s Woking 2 - 2 Walton & Hersham
Ryman Youth League
Tuesday 4th October 2011

A lively start to the first half saw Woking go a goal up inside 60 seconds, Phil Moore doing brilliantly to reach a cross at the far post and turn it past the Walton goalkeeper. Woking doubled their lead in the 10th minute, Jake Hicks with a superb volley from 35 yards out after Moore had been disposed during a break forward from defence.

With Woking looking like they were going to make easy work of the game, Walton got two quick goals to draw level. The first an own goal from Moore in the 15th minute, heading the ball over his keeper Aaron McGuigan. McGuigan conceded a penalty 2 minutes later which Walton's number 8 smashed into the back of the net to make it 2 - 2.

Woking had a chance to get back into the lead just before half time, Moore again involved, his shot deflected onto the outside of the post and out for a corner.

Half Time: Woking 2 - 2 Walton & Hersham

A couple of injuries in the 2nd half forced Woking into a change of formation and the switching of players into different positions, Phil Moore moving up top to partner Dean Brazil in a 4-4-2.

Two neat balls over the top in the 56th minute to Brazil caused Walton some cause for concern, but both chances went wide. Substitute Sam Stone put in a good cross to Adam Bellmaine at the back post, the winger controlling the ball well but his shot was blocked wide for a corner.

Woking created numerous other chances in the 2nd half, but even with 11 minutes of added on time they couldn't find that elusive winner.

Woking: 1. Aaron McGuigan, 2. Louie Meech, 3. Adam Hitch, 4. Niall Wright (15. Alex Cassells, 69 min), 5. Phil Moore, 6. Ashley Crowe, 7. Tom Hitch (17. Lewis Cotugno, 64 mins), 8. James Oben-Rogers (14. Sam Stone, 58 mins), 9. Dean Brazil, 10. Jake Hicks, 11. Adam Bellmaine
