Chris Sexton - 9th August 2012
Sunday 25th September - Surrey FA Tournament
U13's - The Woking team were terrific and a little unlucky to lose their first match. They then drew their next two games before winning their final match handsomely and in great style. Won x 1, Drew x 2, Lost x 1
U16's - The two Woking teams both performed really well, playing some outstanding football at times. The teams each won two matches, drew two and lost one. Won x 4, Drew x 4, Lost x 2
Adult Team: - The two Woking teams both applied themselves really well in the face of some older, bigger and tough opposition. They showed real character, endeavor and much composure playing with some great style. They did really well in winning two games, drawing four matches and only losing three. Won x 2, Drew x 4, Lost x 3
Sunday 16th October - Daytrippers Tournament @ The Bekham Academy O2
The Daytrippers Tournament proved once again to be a very special occasion and such a great day. Due to a fantastic attendance by the Woking players we were able to field 2 x Junior and 2 x Senior Teams. All the boys played really well and can be very proud of themselves for their fine efforts throughout a long day. They came up against some good teams but all of the boys applied themselves extremely well, winning quite a lot of matches and playing some terrific football along the way - very well done!
Sunday 30th October - Surrey FA Tournament
The Woking Teams had another successful day at the monthly Surrey FA Football Festival. All of the Woking Teams played free flowing football putting into practice their excellent passing game and terrific teamwork producing some excellent results:
U13's Team: Won x 2, Drew x 2, Lost x 1
U16's Team - Won x 3, Drew x 1, Lost x 1
Adults Team - Won x 3, Drew x 2, Lost x 2
27th November - Surrey FA Tournament
Woking’s final Tournament of 2011 and what a fantastic day it was. Once again all of the boys played magnificently and all can be very proud of them. The results show that they were extremely successful and played some great football, moving the ball around the pitch, working hard for each other and really coming together as a team. It was difficult with the sun in Woking’s eyes and a strong wind but they all applied themselves to produce some wonderful, controlled football.
U 13's - Won x 1, Drew x 1, Lost x 2
U16's - Won 3, Drew 3, Lost 0
Adults - Won 3, Drew 1, Lost 0
Considering the ages of the players we fielded it shows fantastic progress that we are not only competing with them but are able to produce football of such quality that we are winning these matches - very well done. Overall our concentration was spot on and energy levels over a long day were marvelous.
Saturday 10th December - Friendly @ Feltham Bees F.C.
A Woking Junior Team and a Senior Team played a lively encounter against Feltham at their ground. It was another excellent performance by all the players.
(i) The Woking Juniors .v. Feltham - Woking won 5-2
(ii) The Woking Seniors - Woking lost 3-2.
Both of our teams played some excellent football and it proved a good competitive workout.
It was a nice way to end before Christmas...............................
Saturday 15th January - Friendly @ Wandgas
A previously arranged friendly with Wandgas FC was re-arranged and Woking attended Wandgas FC where Junior and Senior Teams were fielded against a very friendly opposition. Wandgas are a relatively new set up. The Woking teams played some good attacking football but were also encouraging to their opponents. Many of the Woking players changed teams to play for the opposition in a fine show of comradeship to even the games up.
Sunday 29th January - Surrey FA Tournament
This was a bitterly cold day. Many of the U16 Team Players had just returned from a week's skiing trip in Italy that morning and following a 24 hour coach journey some were too tired to play. However, due to the numbers the U16's a team could not be fielded. Our U13's and Adults once again put on some fine performances in their respective competitions. The Woking Teams were unbeaten once again in their respective competitions.
U13’s - Won x 2, Drew x 3, Lost x 0
Adult - Won 4, Drew 2, Lost 0
Sunday 26th February - Surrey FA Tournament
U13's - Won x 2, Drew x 3, Lost x 0
Woking 'A' U16's playing in the Premiership. An outstanding set of results achieved through some great interplay and passages of passing football, together with some excellent finishing. The teamwork was of particular note in all the players working hard for each other and not conceding a goal in any of their matches. This was a first for any of our teams and is a result of their excellent efforts.
Results - Won x 4, Drew x 1, Lost x 0
Woking 'B' U16’s playing in the Championship League. The Team played some attractive football and all applied themselves well to achieve a great set of results.
Results - Won x 3, Drew x 1, Lost x 1
Adult Woking Team - The majority of our 'Adult' Team are U16's who had, as usual, already played in the Junior Tournaments earlier in the day. They played up in this age group to facilitate us having an 'Adult' team. Woking has only a few players who have just moved up into this 'Adult' age group and without the support of the younger players we would not be in a position to field an adult team. However, all of the boys who play seem to appreciate the extra game time and it appears this challenging environment is improving them and making them better players.
This should be taken in context when considering their results which were fantastic and the results were magnificent taking everything into account.
Teamwork and attitude are paramount within our teams and this was demonstrated in abundance within the Woking Teams. This was especially epitomized in their final game at the end of a long day against a much bigger, fresher Team. Woking played with determination and courage, producing a wonderful team display to overcome the opposition and finish the day with a fine victory.
Results - Won x 3, Drew x 1, Lost x 1
Friday 16th March - Friendly @ Chelsea FC
The Team's previously arranged friendly due to take place on the 10th February had been postponed due to heavy snowfall. This was an eagerly awaited encounter with strong Chelsea Teams at their prestigious training complex in Cobham.
U13's - The team won their first two games and narrowly lost their last game (maybe a few legs were going a bit by this stage). Overall a win for Woking by a 5 - 2 aggregate score is a fantastic evening for the Woking Team.
U16's - The team won each of their three matches and played some good flowing, ball to feet football which was very pleasing. Chelsea were very able and the Woking boys did particularly well. It is only a couple of years ago that the Woking teams would be on the end of a many goal thrashing at the hands of Chelsea so it is testament to just how far Woking boys have come in their development. A couple of highlights were Harry Robson's strong performance once again between the posts. We have also developed the ability to head the ball with Shelly and Charlie both getting on the end of perfectly delivered corners from Alex. Woking U16’s results went like this:
Won 3 - 1, Won 2- 0, Won 3 – 1
Sunday 25th March - Surrey FA Tournament
It is a funny old game someone once said......................Saint & Greavsie? Well today was just that for Woking.
Woking U13's won x 1 and lost x 5 which is just not like them, an off day!
Woking U16's weren't as cohesive and energetic as they usually are although results were very positive as they Won 2, drew 2 and lost 1. The Woking Adults started their tournament still in 'Comic Relief' mode it seemed as they were so full of charity they wanted to gift the opposing team the game! However they then went on to win the next 5 matches and draw the final game..........!
Woking’s emphasis is always on players working as a team, with the correct spirit and trying to play the game in a good, flowing manner whilst trying hard for each other. They certainly did that across the Woking teams in their entirety. All of the players once again did really well and were a credit to Woking Football Club and all concerned with them.
U13's - Won x 1, Drew x 0, Lost x 5
U16's - Won x 3, Drew x 2, Lost x 1
Adults - Won x 5, Drew x 1, Lost x 1
This highlight of the adult tournament was the response shown by Woking’s very young team following their poor first game showing. From then on they were excellent and this was evident in some convincing wins.
All in all another great day for Woking Football For All Teams.
Sunday 29th April - Surrey FA Tournament
Woking had a fantastic turn out of players on a day when the weather was particularly harsh and many other teams struggled for players due to their withdrawals. It is testament to all of Woking’s players’ dedication to their team and football that so many Woking players were available and this was to their absolute credit. They were rewarded for their efforts and fine football as all of teams once again went unbeaten throughout the entire tournament.
Woking entered one team at U13's and two teams respectively at U16's and Adult level. All of the Woking teams went through the day without losing a single match which is a wonderful achievement and demonstrates how far the Woking players have developed. There were a few draws throughout the day but in the main all of the Woking teams won their games handsomely, playing some magnificent football along the way and scoring some great team goals.
U13's - Won x 4, Drew x 0, Lost x 0
U16's - A Won x 4, Drew x 1, Lost x 0
B Won x 3, Drew x 2, Lost x 0
Adult - A Won x 5, Drew x 1, Lost x 0
B Won x 2, Drew x 3, Lost x 0
Monday 7th May - Mythcett F.C. Tournament
An U13 and U16 Woking Team were entered into this competition.
The U13's performed well and won some games applying themselves with their usual verve and skill.
The U16's scored a massive 23 goals in their five matches without conceding a single goal against them. Their football was particularly special that day with the team ending the day as outright winners. (photo 6)
Saturday 12th May - Woking F.C. Tournament
A wonderful turn out of Woking FFA Players meant Woking entered 5 teams (2 x U13's, 2 x U16's & 1 x Adult) into their home competition. Expectations were high following an already impressive season by all of the Woking Teams. Due to a lack of Adult Teams entering the competition, the 2 x Woking U16 Teams also played in the Adult Competition, effectively bringing the total number of Woking Teams to 7 on the day, but placing significant pressure on the U16 players to compete for nearly 3 hours of continued football in total.
The Woking U13's reached the final of their competition and were desperately unlucky to be beaten by a very dubious penalty decision in the last second of a game that they had commanded.
The Woking U16's were unbeaten, winning all of their matches handsomely and by many goals. They reached the final of their competition but after a hard day’s football in this and the adult tournament could only manage a no score draw against Chelsea whom Woking had beaten comfortably earlier in the day. Despite being on top for most of the match fatigue was a factor for the Woking team and had finally caught up with them it seemed. They, unfortunately, lost the resulting “lottery” of the penalty shoot out.
The Woking U16's weren't finished there though as they'd also impressively made it to the final of the Adult competition against the Woking Adult Team..........It was another big test for the exhausted U16's but they put on a brave show.
The Woking Adult Team had performed exceptionally well throughout the day, working hard and playing some wonderful football throughout the day. However the Adults had to be at their best, bringing their A game to the match to win the final 2 - 0 against the valiant Woking U16’s.
The Adult Team were deservedly crowned Champions!
So it finished with the Woking Teams - U13 & U16's Runners Up, Adult Winners, U16’s Runners Up in the Adults
Saturday 19th May - Guildford Saints Tournament….
This was a small tournament comprising of five U16 teams. The Woking U16’s Team were once again unbeaten winning all of their matches to be crowned Champions and Tournament Winners once more!
Sunday 20th May - Bournemouth Tournament
The Woking U13’s were represented by two teams as were the Woking U16’s in their respective leagues. The Woking U13’s finished Champions of the Premiership League and the Woking U16’s won both the Premiership and Championship Competitions respectively.
This was a particularly great day for all of the Woking players and teams. They once again played some wonderful football and were rewarded with the success of being crowned Champions in their respective age groups at yet another Tournament. Of particular note the U16’s Premiership Team scored a massive 37 goals without conceding a single goal against………speaking volumes for their spirit and team work.
Sunday 27th May - Surrey FA Tournament
Today the players exceeded themselves once again and the players can be rightly proud of their achievements!
On a very hot sunny day the Woking players turned out in numbers for our final Surrey FA Tournament. Woking entered two teams into each age group - U13's, U16's and the Adult competitions.
All of the Woking teams, once again, performed with great effort and played some wonderful, free flowing football in all of their matches..
The U13's and U16's leagues are non-competitive to encourage the 'Football for All' set up. However, all teams were asked to vote for their 'Fair Play & Respect Team'. Woking U16's were voted as winners of this award and had the honor proudly lifting this very special and important trophy.
The adult leagues are competitive. This is Woking’s second year in this competition and the only way a Woking team can be entered for this is by making up the numbers with our much younger players from the Woking’s U16’s teams.
The Woking 'adult' team not only did well, they won their league! They were also awarded the 'Fair Play & Respect' Trophy as well for the Adults Leagues for good measure.
The winning of the league is a fantastic achievement for all of the Woking players, especially in the circumstances, but the awards for 'Fair Play & Respect' are those that are an incredible achievement and all can be very proud of.
This emphasizes the marvelous way in which all Woking players play for the team, how they have presented themselves over the season, how well they have behaved and how they interact with the other teams and officials. The Woking teams are all about playing football with the right attitude and collective team spirit. All involved can be so very proud that the Woking teams have been voted for by other team managers who consider Woking the most deserving team to win these awards. It is a very special accolade for each and every one of the players that represent the Woking Football for All Teams.
U13's: A Won x 4, Drew x 1, Lost x 1
B Won x 2, Drew x 1, Lost x 1
U16's - A Won x 3, Drew x 1, Lost x 0
B Won 4, Drew 1, Lost 0
Adult - A Won x 5, Drew x 2 , Lost x 0
B Won x 2, Drew x 2, Lost x 3
Saturday 16th June - Surrey Youth Games
Woking Juniors & Seniors entered this competition and against some main stream football opposition both finished a respectable 3rd in their leagues.
Saturday 16th June - Tottenham Hotspur Special Olympics Tournament
Woking Adults entered this competition and despite facing some tough opposition put on a great display throughout the tournament finishing in 4th Place. The good day was capped off with them being awarded the Fair Play and Respect Award due to their exemplary behaviour and the fine way in which all of the players performed throughout the day.
Saturday 23rd June - Link Leisure Tournament
This was a great turnout with 34 players making up 6 Woking Football for All Teams entering this competition. All of the Woking Teams displayed a great spirit and had a lot of fun playing with some of the older family members. It was fitting that the Woking Panthers won the tournament as they were made up primarily of the Robson family who had our two youngest & smallest players on their team in Oliver and Henry. Very well done to them all. Woking Lions were Runners up and another Woking Team finished in fourth place following a penalty shoot out.
Sunday 1st July - Bournemouth Beach Tournament
Woking entered the first ever Bournemouth Beach Tournament. Woking had a total 20 players for the 3 teams at U13's, U16's and Adult levels. As the title suggests the tournament was played on the beach! There were 12 teams from across the South of England in each age group and following a league system there were play offs involving the sides that finished highest in the leagues, culminating in finals.
It was a sunny (but windy) day and the matches were played with a lighter ball than most players are used to. Running on dry sand was really difficult and, of course, the usual styles of football were needed to be adapted considerably to this new and challenging environment! Woking entered this tournament with no expectations other than to have some fun on the beach with a football!
The Woking players played many matches and worked extremely hard in a tournament that lasted all day. They all performed magnificently throughout the day and were an absolute credit to everyone involved with them.
All three Woking teams U13's, U16's and Adult Teams emerged victorious winning their respective competitions! Amazing and very well done to all of the players.
Sunday 8th July - Four Clubs FC Tournament
The rain could not dampen the spirits of the rampant Woking FFA Teams today in the final tournament of a long and successful 2011/2012 Season.
It was another terrific turnout across the Woking Teams being able to field 30 players making up 2 x Adult, 2 x U16 and 1 x U13 Team.
The U13's put in some good performances with an even split of wins, draws and losses throughout their day. They played some nice football and scored some good goals. Goal Scorers for the U13’s were Ben Roberts x 3, Matt Muckett x 2, Liam Patterson x 2.
The U16's Played 12 Matches = Won x 10, Drew x 2, Lost x 0
An amazing set of results with excellent team performances with every player playing incredible football with Woking scoring a massive 25 Goals and only conceding 1 in their 12 matches to be crowned outright tournament champions.
Goal scorers on the day for the U16’s were Alex Elgar x 9, Shelly Foster x 7, Lewis Ashby x 5, JJ Elgar x 3, Adam Levett x 1
The Adult Teams were split into two teams and one of those teams went through their games unbeaten whilst the other won the majority of theirs - a cracking effort especially considering we have many new players and they had not played with each other prior to today's tournament.
Goal scorers for the adults were: Arron Elliot x 9, Mat Hastings x 3, Patrick, Luke Brockway, Michael Sears, Marc Grout, Mat Hall.
It was a nice way to end our competitions for this season with all of the Woking players performing to high standards working hard for their team and producing some extremely pleasing football. Very well done to all of the Woking players once more.
To cap off a wonderful and successful Season Woking FC were awarded the Community Club of the Season Award!
