The King Rides Out

11th October 2012

The King Rides Out The President of the Football Conference Bill King together with his wife Jane will be climbing aboard the Blue Square Bet Battle Bus on Saturday to lend weight to national “Non League Day”

Sponsors of the Conference Blue Square, have laid on an amazing treat to those groundhoppers who wish to take advantage of three cracking Premier matches specially arranged to spread the message that the game at non league level is alive, vibrant and worth getting involved in. Without the game at local level there would be no base on which the top could survive and flourish.

Mr King will commence his ride with other lovers of our great game by firstly watching Macclesfield Town play Newport County (12noon) at the Moss Rose, before taking his seat to journey on to Edgeley Park for a 3.30pm kick off as Stockport County host Kidderminster Harriers. The third and final leg will see them all back aboard for the short journey to Ewen Fields, the home of Hyde FC where Tamworth will be in opposition at 6.30pm.

On conclusion the bus will finally return everyone back to Macclesfield. We are sure by then that everyone will be on first name terms with Bill and Jane. Those having booked will be charged the princely sum of just £5 to grab this great opportunity to see three top class matches and Blue Square are making a donation to ‘Marie Curie Cancer Care’, which is a tremendous statement from a company now in their sixth season of sponsoring the top flight of non league.

The President commented “This is a wonderful and innovative way to spread the great message of all that is exemplary about the game at our level. Having been associated with the competition since its inception in 1979, it just shows the camaraderie which exists between our clubs that they gladly agreed to change kick off times this Saturday to coincide with Non League Day. Well done to all involved. whatever your club is doing to recognise and promote the day. Best wishes to you all and I hope you enjoy the day wherever you celebrate it”.
