Last call for the 'Life in Football' night

Ian Nicholson - 30th January 2013

Last call for the 'Life in Football' night This Friday, 1st February, there is a 'Life in Football' curry evening in the Cardinals' Bar and a few spaces are still available at a couple of tables.

The evening costs £8 and includes a curry; tables have been taken by Woking fans and local football clubs. The main contributor will be Linvoy Primus, the former Portsmouth central defender who played alongside Sol Campbell with Harry Redknapp as manager. Linvoy played through the leagues under managers like Pardew, Mullery and Lennie Lawrence before becoming a fans favourite at Portsmouth. When he retired he was appointed as Portsmouth club ambassador and had a Fratton Park stand named 'The Linvoy Primus Community Stand' to recognise his role at the club.

The aim of the evening is to have fun and good food but also to get below the surface of the usual football stories; much of the time will be given over to Q and A. Linvoy moved up from lower league level and struggled with injury, rejection and self doubt to build a successful Premiership career. He has now set up a charity working with young people. Several locally based Woking players will be at the event and we will interview Gez Sole about how he has found the ups and downs of his time in football. We will try not to mention his knee!

All 10 tables went very quickly but a few spaces are available.

Email iannicholson@matrixtrust.com or text/ring 07976351891 to grab a last minute space.
