Garry needs your help ‘Going Forward’

Ian Nicholson - 27th March 2013

Garry needs your help ‘Going Forward’ The tremendous success of the ‘Cards’ over the last three years has been a fantastic team effort. We were promoted as BSBS Champions and are now in the top half of the Conference and pushing to be the highest placed part time team in the country. We have done this through playing exciting and free flowing football. Woking are back!

Next season presents a huge challenge to maintain the momentum, both on and off the pitch. In a few weeks Garry Hill and Steve Thompson will be hard at work assembling another squad to take us forward next year – can we keep the progress going?

‘Boost the Budget’ has been a key part of our success. £55,000 has been added directly to the playing budget in the last 2 seasons through ‘ordinary ‘ fans donating between £10 and £30 a month to the Cards Trust. In addition the Trust is now the second biggest shareholder and we have an elected representative on the Club Board. Through this the fans are now playing a major role in helping Woking move forward – and it has worked.

The challenges of next year mean we really need to do all we can to to increase our contribution; we would therefore like all Woking fans to consider:-
  • Donating to the Boost the Budget scheme – it is very simple and starts at just £10 a month

  • If you are contributing would you consider increasing – if only by a few pounds. 100 people ‘upping by just £5 a month would increase the pot by £6000

  • If you have given annually by cash in the past would you please do so again?

At every home game from Easter Saturday onwards there will be a table by the club shop where you can get all the information you need and complete forms. There will also be a bucket for cash donations.
