Surrey Youth League - League Cup Final
Sunday 21st April 2013

Our youngest Woking under 18 side won the Surrey Youth League League Cup defeating Oxshott at Westfield football club.

The Young Cards side were up against a strong and determined Oxshott team who were looking to retain the trophy they won last season. On a bumpy pitch Woking created the best efforts in the first 45 minutes with Callum Atwood and Ryan Inwards both going close. Steven Elstow in goal for Woking was rarely troubled in the first period, Elstow was impressive in the air dealing with everything comfortably. With the sides level at half time Woking started the second half strongly and deservedly took the lead with a wonderful strike from Harri Findlay from 25 yards that looped over the Oxsott keeper Josh Betts. Findlay then added a second, finishing with a great low shot that crept just inside Betts left hand post. Cards then went on to take complete control and it was no surprise when Rhys Pryce Placid took his chance finishing with a great strike from Findlay's cross.

Overall it was a good performance from a very young Woking side and the team deserved their victory.

Squad: Steve Elstow, Dave Richardson, Luke O'Brien, Jack Collins, Callum Attwood, Alex Zubaidi, Marcus Vlassak, Ryan Inwards, Reece Placid, Harri Findlay, Chris Smith.

Subs all used: Brian Chimbina, Charlie Chapman, Harry Ramsey, Sam Swingler, Myles Jones.

Special mention should be made of five other players Mason-Wech Turner who was unavailable and four others suffering with long term injures who have turned up to support the team on a regular basis: Jamie Collet, George Dore, Rob Hall and George Burton have missed a large part of the season, we wish them a speedy recovery.
