The recent AGM elected the new Board of Woking FC:
Chairman – Mike Smith
Existing Directors re-elected – Geoff Chapple and Rosemary Johnson
Existing Directors seconded onto new Board – Peter Jordan
New Directors elected (subject to FA approval) – Garry Richardson and Kelvin Reay – a few lines on each are below
Supporters' Trust elected Board representative – Ian Nicholson
Garry Richardson has spent a lifetime working in sport, particularly football, and as a sports broadcaster with the BBC. Garry joined the BBC in 1974 and 2014 will be his 40th anniversary with the Corporation. He has worked closely with the top managers and administrators in football and other leading sports. He has also reported on 7 Olympic games for the BBC. His contacts at the highest level in sport have already produced dividends for the football club and he believes this will continue in the future as a director with Woking FC. Garry said: "I have been very lucky in my job, interviewing sport's biggest stars, but nothing quite beats watching a Woking win on a Saturday. Sometimes, of course, we lose and travelling back from Barrow in the middle of last season was a tough trip !! I hope my contacts in sport can help Woking FC and I'm thrilled to be involved with the club."
Kelvin Reay, 51 years old, Key Accounts Director for Rigby Taylor, who supply materials to the sporting industry. "I first got involved with Woking FC in 1990 when Geoff Chapple asked me to come down and give advice about the pitch and I have been a season ticket holder ever since. I was on Geoff’s testimonial committee and have many happy memories watching Woking for the last 23 years. I look forward to working with the other Board members, trying to do our very best for this great club. COYC!"
I am sure you will join with me in congratulating the new Directors, and in thanking our outgoing Finance Director James Aughterson for all his hard work and dedication over many years.
