Nationwide Conference

Woking travel to Crawley this evening in this must-win game. Crawley sit 16th in the table following the weekend?s results. The Cards will be looking for their first victory over the Reds at the Broadfield Stadium in the Conference National.

LAST SEASON
After finishing 12th in the 2004/05 season, hopes were high last time around. Former England star Alan Mullery was brought in as football consultant to the SA Group a year last September following a bad start to the season and the following month, manager Francis Vines was relieved of his position after an FA Cup exit to Braintree Town in the 4th Qualifying Round. With Vines? coaching staff also having left, midfielder Simon Wormull stepped in as caretaker player-manager until the club appointed former Chelsea and Swansea boss John Hollins and his assistant, Alan Lewer in the November. Results improved on the field before a dip in form left the Reds battling relegation. A run of five straight wins towards the end of the season lifted the club clear of trouble before a final position of 17th was secured.

RESULTS SO FAR
Crawley started the season with a 10 point deduction, but won their first 3 of the season (including against ourselves) to haul themselves back to level terms. They went 7 without defeat recently, but have lost 3 out of their last 5. Home form is slightly better than that away from the Broadfield Stadium; they?ve won 9 and lost 6. Scott Rendell is the leading goal scorer with 11 so far this season. Ten days ago they drew 1-1 at home to Cambridge United. The away side took the lead just before the interval. Cambridge looked like they had secured the points but an injury time equaliser from Marcus Richardson rescued a point for Crawley. On Friday evening they gained a point at Rushden & Diamonds. Lee Blackburn opened the scoring on 25 minutes for the visiting side only for Lee Tomlin to equalise mid-way through the second half to share the points.

THE CRAWLEY SQUAD
The Crawley squad includes a couple of familiar faces. Former Cards Lloyd Blackman and Steve Evans both play for the West Sussex side, although Lloyd is currently injured having recently undergone groin surgery. Bristol City striker Elliot Benyon joined on loan for the rest of the season in January, following a successful spell with St Albans. Another forward; Marcus Richardson, also signed during the window following his departure from Cambridge United.
