Woking Football Club held their annual dinner and presentation evening on Saturday, hosted in the new Geoff Chapple Lounge for the first time, where 150 supporters, volunteers, staff, sponsors and players got together to celebrate a great season.

First Team Awards

The Woking Football Club ‘Player of the Season’ award, as voted for by the fans, went to Scott Rendell, with the striker receiving 65% of the votes.

Scott scored 26 goals in 45 appearances this season, a fantastic achievement from the 28-year-old who also picked up 3 other awards on the night; retaining the Woking News & Mail Player of the Season and the Manager’s Player of the Season awards. His team mates named him Players’ Player of the Season.

The Cards Trust Player of the Season was awarded to Giuseppe Sole by the Trust chairman Peter Holdsworth. Giuseppe has made the most appearances this season, getting on the pitch on 51 occasions, finding the back of the net 12 times.

Goal of the Season

The awards section of the evening kicked off during dessert with everyone’s eyes glued to the televisions to watch the top 10 goals as voted for by the fans.

Voting was neck and neck on the final day of voting, but Giuseppe Sole pulled away with his free kick at FC Halifax Town, which was seen live on BT Sport.

Gez’s goal received 32% of the votes, just beating Josh Payne’s volley at Chester which received 29%. Both goals would be worthy winners in any Goal of the Season competition!

Appearance Awards

There were 3 awards presented on the night for first team appearance milestones, with Kevin Betsy (200), Joe McNerney (250) and Giuseppe Sole (300) all presented with an award by Andrew Laithwaite from Laithwaite Financial Services, the sponsors of the Geoff Chapple Lounge.
