Supporting Ismail Yakubu’s operation and rehab

Ian Nicholson - 10th September 2015

Supporting Ismail Yakubu’s operation and rehab Ismail Yakubu is already a favourite with Woking fans. The Card's Vice Captain and defensive rock is the only player to have helped three clubs gain promotion to the Football League and, in the early games, has been a lynchpin to our solid defence as well as scoring a late winner at Torquay.

Ismail's season is over with ligament damage and he will be having his operation in a few weeks before joining Scott Rendell on the long road to recovery for next year. This is shattering personally for the Yak but he is also devastated for the club and fans that he can’t help Woking’s campaign this year.

As with Scott Rendell, Woking FC will pull together and do all we need to to ensure Ismail gets the best possible treatment and rehabilitation and returns to football as soon as possible. We all have a part to play!

• A crowdfunder has been set up, www.gofundme.com/vy3uc9sv, and it is easy to leave a message of support and donation towards Ismail’s op and rehab.

• Donations can be given directly to the club (40-47-08, 71796550, ref:Yak) which avoids the 6.9% charges on the crowdfunder .. However to encourage others if you donate this way please email a message and amount donated to iannicholson@matrixtrust.com and it will be added to the crowdfunder as an offline donation (with no charges).

• There will be a bucket collection for the Yak appeal at Forest Green next Tuesday. The club and Trust are acutely aware there have been a lot of bucket collections recently but please give as generously as you are able.

• If you can shake a bucket on Tuesday please email iannicholson@matrixtrust.com or text 07976 351891.

• There will be more fundraising initiatives in the coming weeks towards the costs for Scott Rendell and Ismail Yakubu and to reinforce the squad - please support and get the word out.

Finally… the response to the last appeal was fantastic and exceeded expectations. Thank you to ALL Woking fans. COYC.
