As part of the National League’s campaign to raise awareness for the annual Poppy Appeal, Woking Football Club auctioned off their ‘captain’s armband’.
The armband was bought by one of our sponsors, Lawrence Golden, for £150 at Woking’s match against Macclesfield Town last month. He runs a business called Golden Adventures (
www.goldenadventuresuk.com) which is a sports retailer based in Guildford.
At last Saturday’s match against Lincoln City a presentation took place on the pitch at half time with photographs taken including Lawrence Golden, Peter Wakeham from our local Royal British Legion and Ronald Pearce a 98 year old veteran.
