Woking v Leatherhead
Surrey Senior Cup 3rd Round
7.45pm on Tuesday 10 January 2017

The Cards, beaten but not bowed at Wrexham on Saturday in another game in which they deserved at least a point on the balance of play, take on the Tanners in the Surrey Senior Cup on Tuesday evening. Garry Hill has said that he will put out a strong side, so why not come down to cheer on the side in a game which, we hope, will help the team get into a winning groove.

WOKING

Woking have won this competition on 12 occasions, most recently in 2013-14 when they beat Metropolitan Police 6-0 in the final. Last season they lost in the semi-finals to Merstham, who had Fabio Saraiva and Charlie Penny in their side.

In the last round of this year’s competition they beat Walton Casuals 4-0.

Garry Hill indicated in his post-match interview on Saturday that he would be putting out a strong side, specifically mentioning that Ismail Yakubu would be included. No doubt there will be places too for the likes of Chike Kandi, Charlie Carter, Frankie Sutherland, Frazer Shaw and Brandon Hall. Fans will also hope that there will be an opportunity to see the home debut of Connor Hall, a young striker who has joined on loan from Sheffield United and who was thrown in at the deep end at the Racecourse Ground.

LEATHERHEAD

The Tanners, managed by Jimmy Bullard, sit 15th in the Ryman Premier League with 32 points from 27 games, having scored 45 goals and conceded 47. In the last round of the Surrey Senior Cup they defeated Molesey away 1-0.

Ex-Card Kadell Daniel is in their squad, on loan from Dulwich Hamlet, whom he joined after leaving Welling United. Also on loan from Hamlet is striker Daniel Carr, who had a loan spell with Woking from Cambridge United. Three other well-known players are defender Joe Howe, who played over 200 games for Ebbsfleet United; 35-year-old striker David Norris, who played for a number of League sides, including making over 200 appearances for Plymouth Argyle and over 100 for Ipswich Town; and keeper Louis Wells. A recent addition to the squad is striker Nana Emeka Boakye Yiadom.

On Saturday they drew 2-2 at home to Harrow Borough with goals from ‘man of the match’ defender Adam Cash and D’Sean Theobalds.
