MANarama’s September assessment: Woking's month under the microscope - and October examined

12:14pm, Thu 3rd Oct 2019
League sponsors Vanarama hope you will get involved as MANarama makes a very big return!

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly...
A winless month would usually set the fast fingers off into overdrive on club’s message boards but there seems a calmness about September’s results. OK, no victories but only two narrow defeats - one to the leaders shows this is hardly a slide to be concerning supporters.

Who else did what in September?
You may have heard, but Yeovil aren’t doing too badly - they won all six last month but it was Bromley still leading the way. It’s not been too bad for Barrow either - five straight wins is their best run since 1968. Hot shot Boreham Wood striker Kabongo Tshimanga also managed to score six times and the only other winless club were Maidenhead, while Wrexham and Solihull didn’t have a good four weeks.

The Cards' high point?
Paul Hodges’ fantastic late leveller at Hartlepool was just reward for the fans up in the north east who wouldn’t get into bed much before 3am.

Star performer...
Godfrey Poku has impressed, while Dave Tarpey has been dangerous.

Stat attack:
No wins maybe, but the Cards have only actually been two goals away from an unbeaten month.

How do things compare to last September?
Oddly similar. Five points were claimed in the Vanarama National League South during this month last season, despite going on the claim promotion.

Attendance watch:
We knew we would find some good news! Crowds are well up, three home gates of 2,599, 1,942 and 2,219 compared to last September 2018’s 1,891 average.

What does October look like?
Interesting! First up it’s Wrexham who haven’t won away. Then it’s Yeovil, the side who can’t stop winning. The Saturdays are all local, with Barnet away sitting alongside three home matches. Notts County come to town late in October.

While we’ve got you, we would love you to….
