Woking v Torquay United
Vanarama National League
Tuesday 20th April 2021

Torquay United are the visitors to The Laithwaite Community Stadium this evening, hot on the heels of 2nd placed Sutton United, only three points behind with the same number of matches played. Gary Johnson's team are on a four match winning streak, which began with Torquay's narrow victory at home to Woking at the beginning of the month.

At the other end of the table, Alan Dowson's injury-hit Cards sit in 19th place, a draw or victory tonight could see the home side overtake Wealdstone in 18th place.

The match is being streamed live on #CardsLive, and you can get your ticket by visiting www.wokingfc.co.uk/live

Woking - Team News

The Cards injury list grew longer on Saturday, with both Max Kretzschmar and Wimbledon loanee Zach Robinson limping off after picking up knocks against Wrexham. They join Sam Ashford, Josh Casey, Nathan Collier, Ben Dempsey, John Goddard, Matt Jarvis, Jamar Loza and Malachi Napa on the out list. Alan Dowson welcomed back Ben Gerring to the side on Saturday following his three game absence due to injury, so the Cards could line up with an unchanged back four this evening.

Torquay United – The Boss

The hugely experienced Gary Johnson, who masterminded the Gulls’ promotion to this level alongside the Cards in 2019, is now eyeing another promotion to the Football League, having won the same title with both Yeovil Town and Cheltenham Town during his career. The 65-year-old has also managed in the Football League with the likes of Bristol City, Peterborough United, and Northampton Town.

One to Watch

With two goals in the last month, left-sided midfielder Jake Andrews is one to watch this evening. The 23-year-old first joined Torquay on loan from Bristol City in 2018, scoring 10 goals in their Vanarama National League South title winning campaign. Jake signed permanently for the Gulls in June 2019.

Last Time Out
