Nick Shaw - 28th September 2015
Woking Football Club is delighted to welcome Paul Merson as our Guest of the Day in the Geoff Chapple Lounge on Tuesday 13th October for our Vanarama National League game against Torquay United.

Paul started his career at Arsenal, joining the club as an apprentice in 1984. He made his debut in November 1986 against Manchester City and gradually established himself as a regular on the right wing for George Grahamís successful Arsenal side. He won the old First Division title in 1989 and 1991, also winning The FA Cup in 1993 and Uefa Cup Winnersí Cup in 1994.

In 1997 he joined Middlesbrough, and played a key role in helping them return to the Premier League. Paul signed for Aston Villa the following season, where he stayed for 4 years before joining Portsmouth in 2002. Another promotion to the Premier League came in his one season at the south coast side.

Paul joined Walsall in 2003, before moving to Tamworth in 2006, making only one appearance for the Conference National side.

Graham Taylor called Paul up to the England national team in 1991, making his debut against Germany in a friendly match. He went on to play for England 21 times and scored 3 goals.

Paul is now a regular on Sky Sports, where he is a match reporter and pundit on the Soccer Saturday programme.
