4. Manny Parry

The towering defender joined Woking from National League side Boreham Wood in the summer of 2019, following the Cards’ promotion from National League South the previous season.

Long considered an imposing centre-back, Manny originally started his career as a striker at Millwall after being scouted at the age of 14, but a move to then Premier League side Stoke City three years later quickly saw him transitioned to playing at the opposite end of the pitch. He signed a three-year deal with the Potters, during which time he made his professional debut in the National League for Nuneaton, playing at just 18 years of age. In 2015 he moved permanently to National League South and joined Maidstone United where he became a first-team regular for the first time in his career – helping the Kent-based side win promotion via the play-offs, defeating Ebbsfleet United on penalties after a 2-2 draw, following a third-place finish in the regular league season.

The following year he had a short spell at Margate before returning to the National League with Braintree Town in November 2016. He played 24 times for the Iron up until the end of the season, including a home defeat by Woking, but his efforts couldn’t prevent Braintree from being relegated by a three-point margin. Despite falling short in Essex, he didn’t have to wait long for a return to the top flight of non-league football as Dover Athletic came calling in the summer of 2017. He quickly established himself as a key player at the Crabble, playing all 46 league games the following season, while also scoring five goals – including one in a 3-1 home win over the Cards. He also played at Kingfield on the final day of the regular season, when a 2-1 victory for Dover condemned the home side to relegation to National League South. The Whites finished the season in eighth place, missing the play-offs on goal difference, whilst Manny was voted into the division’s team of the year. From Dover, he joined beaten play-off finalists Boreham Wood, but endured a frustrating season following the summer departures of several would-be teammates. He eventually made 26 league appearances as Wood finished the season in 20th place. Now he joins Woking looking to re-establish himself as one of the league’s most dominant defenders.
