11. Matt Jarvis

Matt signed a new contract with the Cards in the summer of 2020 after having his return to football midway through the previous season curtailed by the untimely end to the campaign. The one-time England international, who grew up in nearby Guildford, launched his comeback in February 2020 after nearly five years of injury problems. He scored with his first touch in a Woking shirt after coming off the bench in a 2-0 home win over Maidenhead United, in addition to providing the cross for the second goal, as well as a further assist against Barnet in his next game. The experienced wide player, who can feature on either flank, ultimately managed just those two appearances before the season came to an end, but certainly did enough to whet the appetite of Woking fans for what could follow across a full season.

He started his career with Gillingham, making his Football League debut in what is now the Championship in November 2003, aged just 17. He would go on to make well in excess of 100 appearances for the club during a four-year spell, scoring 16 goals in all competitions and earning a place in the League One PFA Team of the Year, before Championship side Wolves swooped in 2007. It was at Molineux where he enjoyed the most successful years of his career. He was a key part of the side which won the second-tier and promotion to the Premier League in 2009, whilst he was voted the Fans’ and Players’ Player of the Year in 2011. He spent just over five years with the club, including three in the top division, making 175 appearances, scoring 21 goals, as well as playing the final 20 minutes for England against Ghana at Wembley in 2011. From Wolves, he moved to West Ham United in 2012, where he made another 78 Premier League appearances before injuries started to take their toll. He joined Norwich City in 2015 but after featuring 21 times spent over three years sidelined with knee, hamstring, and hip injuries. A short loan spell with Walsall at the start of 2019 saw him finally return to the pitch before he joined the Cards just over a year later.
