6. Moussa Diarra

The giant and hugely popular left-sided centre-back joined Woking on a permanent deal in the summer of 2019, having enjoyed a brief but extremely successful loan spell with the club during the final two months of the previous season, culminating in the Cards’ promotion to the National League.

Moussa first joined Woking in March 2019 as manager Alan Dowson jumped at the chance to bring in one of his most successful players from his time at former club Hampton and Richmond Borough. Dowse had been chasing a naturally left-footed central defender for some time and spoke highly of both the Frenchman’s defensive ability as well as his sizable threat at set pieces. He went on to make a total of 13 appearances, scoring twice, most notably netting the first in the play-off semi-final comeback win over Wealdstone, when the Cards came from two down to win 3-2. It was this, along with his endearing enthusiasm and attitude, which quickly won over supporters and established him as a firm fan favourite.

An experienced player in English non-league football, he begun his career with St Albans City and Hemel Hempstead Town, before joining Dowse at Hampton in early 2015. He scored within two minutes of the start of his debut against AFC Hornchurch and finished the season with four goals and three clean sheets in just seven games. He continued that form into his only full season with the Beavers, scoring an incredible 14 goals in 52 games in all competitions, as Hampton were promoted from the Isthmian League Premier Division as champions. His form earned him a move to National League side Barrow the following season, a campaign in which the Bluebirds finished in a hugely respectable seventh place, and whilst the following year would be tougher as the Cumbria side battled successfully against relegation, it was one that still included his first goal at Kingfield, albeit against the Cards on that occasion. He joined Dover Athletic in the summer of 2018 but after falling down the pecking order moved on loan to Woking before making the move permanent four months later.
