Paul joined the Cards for a second time in March 2021. A versatile forward, who can play out wide or in the number ten position supporting the striker, he was a key part of manager Alan Dowson's promotion winning team in 2019. He was signed following a successful trial the previous summer, quickly standing out to fans with a goal against Football League side AFC Wimbledon, whilst also impressing with his pace and quick feet in around the penalty area. Often used as an impact player, he made 46 appearances during the 2018/19 season, scoring seven times - most notably netting the winner against Oxford City in a 3-2 victory and playing a key role in the play-off semi-final against Wealdstone. Last season he featured on 21 occasions, scoring a memorable equaliser against Hartlepool United, live on BT Sport.
Born and raised in the area, Hodges is a long-time supporter of the club, and was even a ball boy for the Cards during his youth. After spending time with Reading as a teenager he seemingly put his football career to one side to concentrate on becoming a teacher, whilst continuing to play part-time for local sides Abbey Rangers and Hartley Wintney, for whom he scored 30 goals in all competitions the season before joining Woking. He joined Slough Town, of the National League South, part way through last season and helped the Rebels reach the end of season play-offs. He scored three times in 11 league games in 2020/21 before Slough's campaign was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
