I spoke to Phil Gilchrist this afternoon at Kingfield. He said he was very happy to be drawn at home to Ebbsfleet United in the FA Cup: ?It?s all you can ask for, to be drawn at home. Some might have wanted us to have been up against a team from a lower division but, as Woking found last season, that doesn?t always work to your advantage. There will be no danger of complacency against Ebbsfleet. I?m looking forward to a good crowd and I hope we can make progress in a competition that still means a lot to clubs like ours.?
Phil took the opportunity to clarify the position regarding the ?signing? of Academy players, Joe McNerney and Matt Powell: ?There seems to be some confusion about Joe?s and Matt?s position. They?re not on contract, like Charlie Moone and Delano Sam-Yorke, also from the Academy. They?ve simply been registered on Conference forms so that they can play if needed. They?re not receiving a salary. I expect, similarly, to register quite a few more Academy players in the coming weeks.?
