PLAYER SIGNS FOR THE CARDS

12:00am, Fri 17th Oct 2008
Woking Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Daniel Spence from Reading on a month?s loan.

Daniel, a product of Reading?s Academy, is nearly 19 years old, and plays at right back but can also play in central midfield.  He will go straight into the squad for Saturday's match at Grays. All subject to approval from the Football Association & Blue Square Premier League.

?Daniel gives me lots of options?, explained Phil Gilchrist, talking about his new signing.  ?He?s got a good pedigree, having come through the youth set-up at the Madjeski Stadium. He?s versatile.

He played for a year at left back and can also play at right back and in midfield. So, he gives us options in some positions where we?re perhaps a bit short of cover. I?ve watched him in a couple of reserve games and thought he did well. We?re about to go into a period when we?ve got cup games as well as league games, so he?ll be a very useful addition to the squad.?

Phil confirmed that he is continuing to look to strengthen the squad in other areas, including up front. On tomorrow?s game, Phil confirmed that Paolo Vernazza and Abdou El Kholti are both fit (though obviously not match fit) and will both be in the squad.

Two players will have late fitness tests.  Phil is keen to sign off the league programme with a good result before our FA Cup encounter against Ebbsfleet United.
