Barry Hitchcock

4:00pm, Wed 28th Oct 2009
The Directors of Woking Football Club are pleased to announce that Barry Hitchcock will be officially joining the Club from Monday November 2nd 2009 in the role of General Manager.

Barry has spent nearly 40 years in sports administration and facility management and has most recently retired after 19 years of being the Sports Director at the University of Surrey, based in Guildford. In that role, he headed a full-time staff of 32 people with more than 80 others being part-time.

We are extremely grateful for the highly professional job that Jane Spong has done in holding the Club together for more than 12 months by carrying out many different roles, and leading our successful Community Programme, which she will continue to do. Jane will of course remain as Club Administrator and Director, working closely with Barry.

Barry is a volunteer, and has been helping out at the club over the last few months. He has really enjoyed meeting people and is greatly looking forward to learning more about how the Club works and what we need to do to continue the remarkable resurgence currently under way. He is a strong believer in the added value possible when a team really works together with mutual respect and will do all he can to help grow this element at WFC.

I know that all colleagues will do everything possible to welcome him and to help give him a good understanding of our very diverse and exciting operation.

Chairman
