Brentwood Town 0 - 1 Woking
Lucas Fettes Youth Cup – Final
Monday, 3rd May - 3pm
Woking u18s completed the Ryman League & Cup double yesterday, defeating Brentwood Town in the cup final by a single goal on a cold windy day in Essex.
The first chance of the game fell to Brentwood in the 13th minute, a long shot hitting the crossbar with many of the 100 plus crowd thinking it was going to dip enough to go in.
Woking had a chance 5 minutes later, Will Hammond rounding the keeper but the angle was too tight to get a good shot, and the Brentwood defence cleared on the line.
Ola Sogbanmu had an opportunity a minute later, the ball falling to him in the Brentwood area, but the goalkeeper was too close and blocked the shot.
The crossbar was hit again just before half time, Matt Pegler tipping a shot onto it and out for a corner.
Half-Time: Brentwood Town 0 - 0 Woking
Brentwood had the ball in the back of the net 4 minutes after the restart, unfortunately for them the goal was ruled out due to the player being in an offside position.
The home side had another chance in the 58th minute, their striker shooting from inside the area, with Pegler diving to his right to block, and Callum Eagle clearing down field.
A goal finally came in the 72nd minute, and it was well worth the wait, 2nd half substitute Ollie Palmer receiving the ball 25 yards out from goal and rocketing a shot into the top right corner of the Brentwood goal to give the victory to the Cards.
