Message from the Chairman

4:27pm, Mon 10th May 2010
From Shahid Azeem, Chairman

After the various challenges and achievements of our season, particularly during the last few matches, I am left with two overwhelming feelings.

The first is of great disappointment that we were unable to complete play-off victory that would have bounced us straight back into the Premier Division.

We all knew that the play-offs would be a bit of a lottery and the only way to make really sure of promotion is to win the league outright.

However, the second feeling is one of great pride at what the club has managed to achieve. This progress has been on many fronts and without doubt includes the playing side.

Graham and Jimmy have worked tirelessly to produce some wonderful displays of football from a talented, scrupulously honest and hard-working group of players. Off the pitch the players have been genuine, approachable and great ambassadors for our sport and our club.

To combine the two thoughts, it has been a humbling experience for me through the year, and our former colleague Phil Ledger would have been very proud of what we have achieved.

I would also like to give grateful mention of the welcome support from all our sponsors, without whom we would not exist at this level.

We have also made considerable progress in other areas off the pitch and stabilised some key areas of the Club. I am very grateful to those responsible for this work too.

In short, it has been a truly roller-coaster year. I have met great people from the Club – staff, volunteers, fans – and the season has underlined how we have to get this Club where it belongs in an ever-higher standard of football.

Key to doing this is to maintain the interest of the additional supporters who turned out at the latter stages of the competition, people who have not been to Kingfield for some time.

Please help us do all we can to attract you permanently to the club, your presence at matches will also help enable us to meet the extra costs of football in the higher leagues.

Together - fans, players, staff, volunteers and directors - we can really achieve, and we can only do it together.
