The Cards continue their pre-season campaign on Tuesday evening with a visit to Arundel. They will no doubt be hoping to build on the encouraging display at Winchester on Saturday, which saw Graham Baker’s side romp home 7-0.
WOKING
The Cards have so far registered three successive wins in their pre-season programme, with 2-1 wins at Sevenoaks Town and Petersfield Town before Saturday’s emphatic win over Glenn Cockerill’s side. The real test will come later, of course, beginning with the visit of AFC Wimbledon this Saturday in the Phil Ledger Memorial Cup encounter.
Among the dozen or so triallists on view so far, the biggest impression has perhaps been made by Gomez Dali, who notched a second-half hat-trick on Saturday.
ARUNDEL
The Mullets (named after the fish in the River Arun, not the players’ hair cuts!) finished in a disappointing 12th place last season in the Sussex County League, Division One, after challenging for promotion in the previous three seasons. This led Richard Towers to step down as Manager. His successor is Gary Wheatcroft, a former team mate of Graham Baker’s at Southampton.
