Proctor & Gamble’s corporate cause of ‘Live, Lean and Thrive’ focuses on benefiting local children from birth to thirteen years of age. Community groups are eligible for a grant if they work with children in this age group. Typically applications come from hospices, schools, youth groups, care organisations and charities.
Last year the scheme helped lots of groups in the Woking and Elmbridge areas. Winners included Cedar House Support Group who provide counselling and services for new mothers and their families, Oaktree School’s unique ‘Lily the Learning Bus’ and Bisley Village Hall. Lots of other organisations also won smaller amounts of money to help with specific projects such as gardening, building repairs, new toys and sports equipment.
The Community department is pleased to announce that at a recent presentation evening we were awarded Second place in the Thrive category. Our application was to hold a Football Tournament for Special Needs Children on the Kingfield pitch at the end of the season. There will be no winners or losers just lots of fun with everyone taking home an individual trophy and a trophy for their school. Many thanks to all our supporters who voted for us.
