Another massive three points

Woking went into this rearranged game in good form with an unbeaten run of eight games behind them. This great run has put them on the edge of the play-off places and two games against top five teams last week proved that they have got what it takes to get there.
Joe McNerney, who must sit out the next three games after his red card at Maidenhead, was replaced by Reiss Noel, who joined Adam Doyle in the centre of defence.

The match was mostly a scrappy affair as the home side did their best to stop Woking playing their passing game. Indicative of this was a bad foul on Dobson by Ingram in the first couple of minutes. The midfielder was not able to get into the match too often from then on. Woking, on the other hand, made every attempt to get the ball down and play whenever possible.

The Woking defence remained strong all night and made it an easy evening for Andy Little in goal, while the final pass from both sides was more often than not cut out before reaching the target. Elvis Hammond was in general well marshalled and was unable to get into any dangerous positions. Captain Mark Ricketts (pictured) was a giant in midfield and was my 'man of the match' for his efforts in cancelling out any danger before it arrived. Aswad Thomas and Adam Doyle also had good games with Thomas getting in a number of dangerous crosses from the left.

The vital goal came on seventy-nine minutes. Woking were awarded a dubious corner on the left. The ball was swung into the penalty area and substitute Ollie Palmer came in at the far post to deflect the ball into the net.

There followed only one difficult moment after this when Kabba got in behind the defence but fired his shot straight at Little, who saved comfortably.

Former Rusden & Diamond and Oxford United player Andy Burgess has been added to the squad to give Garry Hill a chance to rotate some of the players during this very busy run to the end of the season.
