This Saturday’s game against Welling United sees the launch of The Cards Trust’s Boost the Budget scheme. This is a really important initiative which is designed to enable ordinary fans to boost the playing budget next season.
Over 40 fans, including Geoff Chapple and Garry Richardson, have already committed to joining the scheme even before its official launch – their support will be shown in Saturday’s matchday programme. But the aim is to get 200 fans signed up by the beginning of next season – which would boost the playing budget by a minimum of £24,000.
The main elements of the scheme, which is open to all supporters and which is strongly backed by the Club, are:
• Fans commit to giving at least £10 a month by standing order to The Cards Trust, with the first payment to be made in May
• The Cards Trust uses their donations solely to buy new Woking FC shares/pay the annual capital contribution on new shares
• The Club uses the proceeds to boost the playing budget
• The Cards Trust increases its shareholding in the Club, giving ordinary fans more influence
• Contributors’ names will be entered in a monthly prize draw.
A leaflet, including a standing order form, will be handed out at the Welling and Dorchester home games and will also be available from the Club Shop. It can also be downloaded from www.wokingfc.co.uk or www.cardstrust.co.uk The form should be returned to the Club Shop for the attention of Alan Barnes.
Please look out too for the promotional video which has been produced about the scheme in which well-known fans express their support for the initiative.
The Boost the Budget scheme is a great way for ordinary fans to express their support for the Club and to help to ensure that we have a competitive team out on the pitch next season. Please support this initiative if you can!
