Merstham v Woking
Surrey Senior Cup 2nd Round
7.45pm on Tuesday 20 November 2012
The Cards begin their defence of the Surrey Senior Cup with a trip to Merstham tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. Merstham currently lie in mid-table in the Ryman League Division One South. Garry will no doubt give priority in selecting his side to those members of his first team squad who did not get ninety minutes on the pitch on Saturday.
WOKING
While Woking need to concentrate on preserving their BSP status and, secondly, on having a decent run in the FA Trophy, a good run-out against Merstham – preferably with more clinical finishing than we saw at the weekend – would be helpful preparation for Saturday’s Trophy tie against Farnborough.
Lee Sawyer, Bradley Bubb and Mike Cestor are all available again after serving their one-match suspensions at the weekend.
The winners of the tie will travel to Farnham Town in the next round.
MERSTHAM
The Moatsiders, much like Woking, don’t seem to have much difficulty in scoring goals but seem unable to keep a clean sheet. So far, they’ve scored 30 goals in 15 games but have let in 31. Ten days ago they were involved in an amazing 6-6 draw away to Walton Casuals, coming back from 6-1 down to share the points. On Saturday they lost 2-1 at home to Faversham Town.
There are a few familiar names in the Merstham squad, including striker Mark Nwojeki, who has scored against us for Staines and AFC Wimbledon and is on loan to Merstham from Kingstonian; Luke L’Anson, once of Dover Athletic; and central defender Tutu Henriques, who made over 350 appearances for Bromley.
