COMMITED MILLS TAKES IN-FORM ‘HEED UP THE TABLE
Gateshead FC boss Gary Mills has been named the ‘Manager of the Month’ for October in The Skrill Premier. The Heed are up to tenth in the table with four straight league wins including a 4-1 away victory at recent league leaders Nuneaton Town. Mills’ side also progressed to the First Round Proper of the FA Cup with a 1-0 win at Chester, a result which made it four clean-sheets in five games for his side.
Hednesford Town’s Rob Smith is The Skrill North ‘Manager of the Month’ for October. Smith makes it a second award in the first three months of the season as his Hednesford side blaze a trail after last season’s promotion from the Evo-Stik Northern Premier play-offs. The Pitmen took four league points to remain top of the table and also progressed through two qualifying rounds of the FA Cup to reach the First Round Proper.
Rod Stringer from Bishop’s Stortford is The Skrill South ‘Manager of the Month’ for October. The former Conference South title winner took The Blues up to third in the table with three straight wins, including a 3-2 victory over pre-season favourites Ebbsfleet. Stringer’s side also took on the Skrill Premier pre-season favourites Forest Green Rovers in the FA Cup where they won 1-0 and earned a live TV clash against Northampton Town.
MAXWELL UNBEATEN AS UNITED CONTINUE TO LEAD THE WAY
Cambridge United goalkeeper Chris Maxwell is The Skrill Premier ‘Player of the Month’ for October. Maxwell negotiated four league fixtures without conceding a single goal, including a vital 1-0 away win at Grimsby Town in which he saved a penalty and made other great saves. Maxwell now has eleven clean-sheets from 16 matches for the league leaders and also kept a clean-sheet in the 1-0 FA Cup win at Needham Market.
Ryan Beswick of Solihull Moors is The Skrill North ‘Player of the Month’ for October. The Moors’ all-time leading scorer added to his tally during the period with five goals in six appearances from midfield, he also contributed a number of vital assists as Marcus Bignot’s side moved up to second in the table.
Bishop’s Stortford’s Kyle Vassell has been named The Skrill South ‘Player of the Month’ for October. Vassell has made a key contribution to a fantastic month for Rod Stringer’s side. His boss making it a double by taking the award in the manager category. The in-demand striker scored five goals in five matches, including an FA Cup hat-trick against Chipstead. He also worked tirelessly to ensure a shock victory for his side at Forest Green Rovers in the following round.
