Surrey Youth League U18 League Cup Final

The game started at a frenetic pace with both sides looking for an early goal. After only three minutes, Bradley Breach picked up a loose ball for Woking, strode forward and clipped the bar with a drive. Harry Findlay then had a shot saved by the Guildford 'keeper's feet before a neat passing move set Max Austin clear. He made no mistake, passing the ball into the net for the opening goal.

The game changed dramatically fifteen minutes into the match when the Guildford 'keeper brought down Bayley Mummery after he was sent clear. This resulted in a red card, before George Dore stroked home the penalty to increase Woking's lead.

The same player scored a third from a twenty-five yard free-kick which sailed into the net as Guildford found it increasingly difficult to keep the ball for any length of time as a result of their numerical disadvantage.

Half-time: Woking 3 Guildford City Lions 0

With a roll-on, roll-off system in operation, both teams made a number of changes during the second period.

Max Austin stroked the ball into an empty net after only four minutes of the half gone for Woking's fourth goal before Alex Zubaidi picked up a loose ball to slide home the fifth. Twenty minutes into the half, a long clearance from defence found Harry Findlay, who ran on for an easy finish to notch the sixth. Neat footwork from Zubaidi then set up defender Dan Bedford, who blasted home from close range.

The Guildford lads never gave up despite being outplayed for much of the game. They forced a few corners and created a couple of half chances but were unable to find the back of the opposition net.

To rub salt into the wounds, Max Austin made it eight for Woking, with the opposition often chasing shadows and Findley completed the scoring shortly before the end.

This win ensures that Woking have now won the League and Cup double. In doing so, they also retained the League Cup. In addition, they reached the final of the Surrey FA County U18 Cup in what has been an excellent season for the Kingfield youngsters.

Woking Squad: Alex Harris, Myles Jones, Dave Richardson, George Dore, Rob Hall, Bradley Breach, Harry Findlay, Bayley Mummery, Max Austin, Alex Zubaidi, Ryan Inwards, Jake Bedford, Luke O’Brien, Jamie Collett
