Sportsmanís Dinner with Sir Geoff Hurst

Nick Shaw - 30th November 2015

Sportsmanís Dinner with Sir Geoff Hurst Woking Football Club were delighted to hold their Sportsmanís Dinner with World Cup winner Sir Geoff Hurst on Friday 20th November at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel.

The evening primarily focused on the accomplishments of Sir Geoff Hurst who was interviewed by the BBCís Garry Richardson with a particular focus on the 1966 World Cup Final and of course the famous hat-trick Ė the only player in history to score a hat-trick in a World Cup Final.

Once the interview had taken place comedian Aaron James took the stage and had the whole room in fits of laughter. There was an ongoing auction throughout the evening and a small live auction which proved to be very successful. We are pleased to confirm that the evening was extremely worthwhile and raised funds circa £8000-10,000.

Sales and Marketing Executive, Elliot Machin commented: ďThe main attraction was, of course Sir Geoff Hurst, who is a very genuine guy, very accommodating and had time for everyone. The interview with Garry was brilliant, and Sir Geoff gave a great insight into his career and the World Cup itself including how he felt the morning of the World Cup final, walking down the tunnel and the thoughts going through his head in the build up to scoring his third goal.Ē

We would like to take the opportunity to thank Sir Geoff Hurst, Aaron James, Garry Richardson, Hugh Harris Menswear for sponsoring the event and of course all of the guests that attended the evening for their continued support.
