Woking v Walton Casuals
Surrey Senior Cup 2nd Round
7.45pm on Tuesday 15 November 2016
The Cards start their Surrey Senior Cup campaign on Tuesday evening when Walton Casuals of the Ryman South League are the visitors. Reduced entry prices apply, so why not come down to the Laithwaite Community Stadium to cheer on Garry Hill’s side?
WOKING
Woking go into this game on the back of a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to bottom-of-the-table North Ferriby United on Saturday in a game where they failed to take a host of chances and had to rely on an injury-time strike from substitute Luke Kandi to share the points.
Garry Hill won’t want to take Walton Casuals too lightly but Tuesday evening’s game will presumably be an opportunity to give a run-out to players such as Kandi and Anthony Edgar who have not had much game time recently, plus perhaps one or two others who are still recovering from injury and possibly one or two Academy players.
Woking have won the competition on 12 occasions, most recently in 2013-14 when they beat Metropolitan Police 6-0 in the final. Last season they lost in the semi-finals to Merstham.
WALTON CASUALS
The Stags, who are playing at Whyteleafe’s ground this season while a new football/athletics stadium is built at the Waterside Stadium, currently sit in 9th place in the Ryman South League with 26 points from 16 games, having won eight, drawn two and lost six games, whilst scoring 29 goals and conceding 25. Their most recent game, last Wednesday, ended in a 3-1 win over Hythe Town.
A recent signing was that of striker Kiernan Hughes-Mason, formerly with Welling and Leatherhead.
Tony Gale is the Stags’ manager.
