Woking Football Club is delighted to announce that Kane Ferdinand has signed a new deal with the club.
Kane, 24, first joined the Cards in December from East Thurrock United. He came up through Southend United’s youth set-up, making his debut in January 2011 and earning a two-and-a-half year professional contract shortly after. He played 45 games the following season, scoring seven goals, and reached the League Two play-offs.
The midfielder signed for Peterborough United on a four-year deal for £200k in the summer of 2012, making his Championship debut in September away to Burnley. He went on to have loan spells at Northampton Town, Luton Town and Cheltenham Town, before signing for Dagenham & Redbridge for the 2015/16 season.
Kane on rejoining the Cards for another season: “I’m 24 now, it’s time for me to start proving myself, hopefully I can just go out there and be the best that I can be, that’s got to be everyone’s aim not just myself, if everyone’s got that mentality in the team we can go a long way.
My best position I feel I’d be a box-to-box midfielder, I’d want to get on more, I didn’t chip in with any league goals last season but I’d like to get on and score more goals.
Anthony Limbrick, Woking first team manager, said: “Kane impressed in the end part of last season and I was keen to retain some of the squad from last season to help with continuity within the football club. After speaking with Kane I felt he fits into what we are looking for and will develop into a key member of this squad through the way we are looking to play.“
We’ll shortly have an interview with Kane, visit either our Facebook page or Twitter at 12.30pm!
