Woking Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Joe Ward on a two-year deal.
Joe, 21, is a winger who started his career at Chelmsford City, joining Brighton & Hove Albion in the summer of 2015 for an undisclosed fee after impressing in the National League South for Chelmsford. Joe played 4 matches for the Seagulls in the Football League Trophy last season, before signing on loan for Lincoln City in January.
He scored 3 goals in Lincoln’s journey to the FA Trophy semi-finals, and played a part in their FA Cup run including playing against Arsenal at the Emirates, and played in their successful Vanarama National League campaign before his loan was cut short due to injury. The pacy winger returned to Brighton, scoring in their 3-0 Sussex Senior Cup final victory against Crawley Town at the Amex in May.
Joe Ward commented: “The meeting we had with Anthony, it went very well, he had a clear plan, a clear direction in where he wants to go and what he wants to do, that suits me as well and I want to be a part of it. I’ve played in the number 10 role, I think I can play up top, and I can play on either wing, I’m quick and have got decent delivery.
Anthony Limbrick on the new signing: “Joe has come from a good pedigree having been successful in non league and then moving to Brighton for 2 years. Joe is the type of player that will excite our fans and cause the opposition problems. After a successful loan move to Lincoln last season we are pleased we managed to sign him after plenty of interest from other clubs.
We welcome Joe to the club!
We’ll shortly have an interview with Joe, visit either our Facebook page or Twitter at 7.30pm!
