Pre-Season Friendly
14 July 2007
The Cards lost 2-1 at The Camrose yesterday afternoon in their first pre-season friendly.
Woking, lining up in a 3-4-1-2 formation, got off to a fine start when Marvin Morgan shot into the top corner with only eight minutes on the clock. But the Dragons were level only a couple of minutes later when Scott Fitzpatrick fired home. Shortly before half-time they added a second when Sean Hankin headed home from a corner.
Frank Gray gave a run-out to all his new signings and there were substitute appearances in the second half from four Academy graduates: Giuseppe Sole, Matt Ruby, David Shin and Jerome Maledon.
Michael Charles had a goal disallowed and was denied a penalty in the second half.
Jay Gasson (pictured) sustained an ankle injury but it is not thought to be serious.
Frank Gray is quoted in the Non-League Paper as saying after the game: ?It was a good workout and a good fitness session. It was about getting our fitness levels up and working on our shape. It?s a question of who can fit in where and people playing in different positions ? that?s what these games are all about.?
The Cards? next pre-season friendly game is on Tuesday night when they travel to Maidenhead United.
