The Vanarama First Four

Vanarama have been busy assessing the season so far - and what’s to come!

The Cards story so far…
This one’s a pretty good read. Woking fans didn’t know what to expect after their last taste of the National League. But time has been a good healer. Four games, three wins and it could have even been more but for a blunt second half in the derby with Aldershot.

From the dugout...
Alan Dowson puts his neck on the line like no other manager. He felt his team would do better than many expected and so far, he’s bang on the money.

Biggest result so far...
Tuesday night’s fantastic 2-1 win at promotion tip Chesterfield has put a totally different slant on things. From just trying to avoid a season of struggle to who knows what. They’ve got three excellent wins on the board already.

Star performer…
Shaun Donnellan has helped the club acclimatise to their new surroundings. The Cards are already adapting - even if the fixture list hasn’t been particularly kind.

Stat attack...
League position: 3rd
Home goals for: 1
Away goals for: 4
Home goals against: 1
Away goals against: 1

What the fans say…
They’ve had plenty to say - and who can blame them. Twitter has been a good place for fans to be so far this season.

“We are picking up points against some of the fancied sides, beamed @WokingHazard.

Fan @caaardinas agrees, tweeting: “Absolutely huge shifts being put in. Proper passion.

The good vibes kept coming and @dominikymd said: “Amazing - it’s an awesome start to the season.

Next up is…
That fixture list doesn’t get any nicer. It’s another long trip, this time to title tip AFC Fylde, before a home game with current leaders Solihull Moors.

Their man to watch…
We all know about Danny Rowe but the star of the Coasters’ show so far has been veteran winger Mark Yeates, a summer signing from Eastleigh.

What can we expect?
Apart from a ten hour round trip? One of the best grounds in the division and two very attacking sides. There’s also a Greggs and a KFC within a stone’s throw of the stadium. What’s not to love?

We’ve met before, haven’t we?
Two seasons ago in fact. It wasn’t a season to remember for Woking but they did the double over Fylde despite relegation. Joe Ward bagged the winner at Mill Farm just over two years ago.

League sponsors Vanarama have recently launched the National League Club reward scheme to help fans back their club's budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Motorama their club will earn £100 and you will recieve £30!
