Woking Football Club has joined 'Donate A Ticket', a fundraising idea that originated in Scotland as a way to raise money clubs were missing out on from not hosting matches.
Donate A Ticket sees fans donate money for a virtual match ticket, with the club receiving all the proceeds minus the payment fees. Clubs are placed in a leaderboard with other teams from their league who have joined the scheme, with more set to join in the next few weeks, so fans can compete to see which club raises the most money. A knockout cup competition against other local clubs will also be running from mid-June.
Commercial Director, Sam Loxton, commented: "We were overwhelmed by the support from our fans with the #GetBehindTheShirt campaign and many have since asked how they can continue to support the club through these difficult times. Donate A Ticket means we can compete with other clubs without kicking a football and maintaining Government guidelines until such time as we can get back to the game we all love. We know we have asked a lot of our fans and appreciate the uncertain times we are in but any help would be appreciated and let's see if we can climb this leaderboard!"
