We started with an initial aim of raising £1,500 for food and toys but thanks to your generosity we smashed that and made it to £2,130 - £1,000 more than we have ever raised before at Christmas – thank you.
Over the next few days players, staff and management will be busy (and COVID-19 compliant!) in distributing meals and toys.
The details are as follows:
• Supplementing 60 Christmas meals to families in Guildford and Woking via local charity Foodwise
• Delivering loads of tubs of chocolates and Christmas puddings for Woking Foodbank clients
• 5 Christmas trees for homeless families being accommodated by Woking Borough Council
• Providing 5 Kindle Fires and toys for St Peters children’s ward
• Providing toys for the Royal Surrey children’s ward
• Providing 10 hampers for fans mentioned to us to show a bit of appreciation
• We have worked closely with several families going through a hard time – food for Christmas, toys for the children and vouchers for parents and adult children
Rosemary Johnson, Woking Chairman, commented; ‘in these challenging times this has been a marvellous effort from our fans, local businesses and players to bring Christmas cheer and support to local people and helping Christmas be a little more special; thank you.’
The club would especially like to thank Chris Sexton, Jodie Selley, the players and management staff for their efforts in making this a record-breaking Christmas appeal.
We also want to congratulate Ben Gerring on his efforts in mobilising so many Non-League clubs to help families with food and hampers – well done Ben.
