I am absolutely loving life at this amazing football club; the board, the staff and the fans have all been so welcoming. I have to give Dowse a special mention, he’s been incredible with me, and he’s been a huge help. I think it’s fair to say we have already become really close and we both share a burning ambition ‘We want Woking Football Club to succeed’. Moving to a new job in a new area… it does not matter how confident you are; it can be daunting. Dowse removed all that for me, and he is why I have settled in so quickly.

When you arrive at any new job, you are always under a bit of pressure; people look and see what impact you will make. This was a big move for me, one that I think took a lot of courage, and I am so pleased I made this move. The potential of this club is incredible, and the sooner we turn professional, the sooner we will start to realise it. The days of being semi-professional at this level are, in my humble opinion, over with. You are up against professional clubs with big budgets. You need to be professional not just in terms of the players, but also in terms of what you do off the pitch. By becoming professional, we will be meeting these teams next year on a more equal footing and then we will have more than a fighting chance.

My job is to ensure the club grows off the pitch; I must bring in the revenue to make this club sustainable. I want us to be challenging to get to the Football League. We have the basis of an amazing team off the pitch, and I am so excited about next season and even more excited about our plans to grow this club over the coming weeks, months and years.

I will never forget my first day at the club; it was made clear that we had no kit sponsorships in place, and time was against us. Dowse was brilliant and helped me draw up a list of potential partners. I will never forget the first deal I made for the club, and that was securing the front-of-shirt sponsorship with Boz’s Fruit and Veg. Dowse introduced me to Boz, and we hit it off straight away, and I can’t thank both Boz and Lynsey Ahmic enough. This is a big financial commitment from them, and their belief in us is huge. We will work tirelessly in our pursuit of promoting this amazing local company.

That was it, I was up and running, and the deals started to happen really quickly. Next up came the back-of-shirt sponsorship. It was amazing to meet John Fortune from the MKJ Group. John has been a fantastic supporter of this football club for years, and I was so thrilled he agreed to carry on that support with the back of the shirt sponsorship and the KRE Stand Sponsorship.

All I needed now was the sleeve sponsorship, and I was delighted when Prince & Son Family Butchers agreed to become it. Speaking with Sam Prince, he is so passionate about the club and couldn’t wait to get more involved. Part of the deal is not only the sleeve, but brace yourselves for the Cardinals Sausage. It will be amazing to have our own locally-sourced food from Surrey, served with local salad and veg. (I wonder who we will be getting that off 😜)

Stay tuned to our social media because there will be several other deals announced in the coming days. It’s been an incredible start off the pitch, and I know that results on the pitch will follow. I promise to continually work hard and try to increase the club's profile, bring in deals and support Dowse and the boys for all I am worth. I want us all to be successful!

If you are interested in joining us on this journey, it would be a pleasure to look at a bespoke package for you. It does not matter if you are spending £300 or £100,000; you are important to us, and we would be honoured to put together options to help meet your goals. Whether you are looking to build your brand, support the club, grow footfall or increase your presence across the Club’s social and digital media platforms, we are a one stop shop to help you grow your business.

See you in two weeks
Mick
