Moving to a card only venue

The club is pleased to share its plans to move the Laithwaite Community Stadium to a card-only venue.

From this Saturday 3rd August, cash will no longer be accepted at the following:

- Ticketing/turnstiles Home & Away

- Club shop

- Reception

Cash will be taken this Saturday in the Fan Zone & Away End, before going cashless from the first home game of the season on Saturday 17th August. From then, cash will be taken in Cardinals Bar, Moaners Corner and Seymours Community Stadium concession stands at home games until December 31st, 2024, after which only card payments will be accepted at the club. It is the clubs hope this gives ample time for fans to adjust to these changes.

Explaining the decision, Business Development Director, Simon Jones said, “This is something we’ve been working on for the last few years, gradually phasing out cash in some areas, while adding points of sale that were card only. We’ve seen these areas benefit from quicker speeds of service and higher average spends, while allowing us manage risk more effectively.

“Moving to a cashless venue improves cash flow, stock management and the monitoring of spending habits. We signed a multi-year agreement with SquareUp payment services, and it’s time for the club to realise this potential. For a business, cash does not retain 100% of its value, with bank charges, change fees and transportation costs making it considerably more expensive to handle. For these reasons, it makes sense for us to follow many other forward-thinking businesses in making the transition to cashless”, Jones added.
