FC Halifax Town vs Woking
Vanarama National League
Saturday 9th November 2024
15:00 Kick-Off
Woking return to league action with a trip up to the Shay to face FC Halifax Town. Michael Doyle will be hoping that his side can arrest a run of form dating back to no league wins since early September, and no away win since defeating Ebbsfleet United back in August.
He will have plenty of options to choose from, with Lewis Walker, Jack Stretton and Tom Leahy all scoring in Tuesday night’s 4-4 draw with Southampton U21s, as they along with Charley Kendall will all hope to be involved.
Opposition Watch
Beaten in the playoffs by Solihull Moors following an impressive campaign that went under-the-radar, Chris Millington’s FC Halifax have made a solid enough start this time around despite another summer of departures. Tylor Golden, Jack Hunter and Luke Summerfield all departed for pastures new, with former Woking loanee Kane Thompson-Sommers securing a move to League Two side MK Dons.
However, the return of Billy Waters from Wrexham was a bid to put the Shaymen’s goalscoring woes to bed, as he was joined by loanee Scott High from Huddersfield, who has impressed, whilst defender Will Smith has played every single minute since departing Harrogate Town.
18 goals scored and 16 conceded in as many games is typical of Millington’s side, who were cruelly beaten by York at the Shay after a stoppage time turnaround last time out, but can count wins over Barnet and Eastleigh as part of their portfolio this season. Sitting just two points off the playoffs but having lost their last two, the Shaymen will hope to keep in touch with the top seven as the season goes on.

Last Time Out
Both meetings last season were 2-1 successes in favour of the Shaymen, with late drama at the Laithwaite being followed up with February’s victory at the Shay.
The last time Woking were victorious in Halifax was a 4-0 drubbing in October 2022, with the Shay previously having been a fairly happy hunting ground for the Cards in previous years.
Of the 30 meetings between the two, 11 have gone the way of the Shaymen, with 9 Woking wins and 10 draws.
